✨ the little things about starting over
And being your own best friend

Over and over again, I find myself feeling lost in life.
Like many, my life stands on multiple pillars.
Family, romantic relationship, friendship, career, health and more.
There was once when multiple pillars collapsed like a domino.
Things didn’t go the way you expect.
You get one blow after another, leaving you devasted.
Not knowing where to begin your rebuild.
And this was how I found myself again.
My Story ❤️🩹
I was laid off from my first full-time job within one month.
My pet hamster fell sick and passed a month later.
Went back into job hunting with many news of layoffs filling my socials.
Didn’t have the emotional support I needed from my then-partner.
Ended my first romantic relationship.
I lost my sense of purpose and direction.
I had to cope with sudden changes in the pace of my day-to-day activities.
I had lost my daily dose of happiness - my hamster.
I faced multiple rejections in the job-hunting journey.
I had my feelings dismissed by my (used-to-be) loved one.
But I also realised that I have a strong support system - family & friends.
Remember: When your job becomes your identity, losing it can be (really) devasting.
Eventually, I was able to get my life back in order.
Did a lot of self-discovery work.
Found a new full-time job.
Adopted a hamster.
Have a loving and supportive partner.
Looking back, I realised things happened for a reason.
It all made sense now that I can connect the dots.

Being your own best friend
We can give good advice to our best friends, but why are we not doing that to ourselves too?
Positive self-talk can help us feel good about ourselves.
How do I be my own best friend 🫶🏻 ?
1. Validate your feelings
Your feelings are valid, period.
Acknowledge the feelings you have.
Whether it’s sadness, anger, annoyance etc - label it.
2. Have self-compassion with yourself
Remind yourself that it’s okay to feel bad.
It doesn’t mean that the feeling is bad, or you are bad for feeling that way.
“I have done my best with what I have.”
3. Spend time in solitude
Being alone is not lonely.
Spending quality time with yourself allows you to learn more about yourself.
Tons of self-exploration & discovery.
Ultimately, we are all walking our own path. So, go focus on your priorities, and be firm in your beliefs.
See you again next Tuesday! 💙
Cheers,

P.S. YOU CAN DO IT! Sending hugs 🤗
